Al Gore brought CTIA attendees to their feet this morning after calling on the wireless industry to support and help create a low-carbon future. In his keynote address, Gore provided an overview of the industry’s growth and transformative power, noting that, “we are still in the early days of the wireless revolution.”
Gore said that the U.S. currently faces three key challenges: a climate crisis, an economic crisis, and a security crisis. He argued that the answer to solving each is reducing our dependence on carbon-based fuels. After highlighting several ways the wireless industry is reducing costs and improving efficiency, he applauded the industry for “being part of the solution” and asked for continued engagement and collaboration in combating global climate change.
Gore closed with an African proverb: “If you want to walk quickly, go alone. If you want to walk far, go together.”
