Technology experts say driverless cars stole the show at last week’s CES. Now, a new article by Mashable shares that one of the major players in the game, Ford, has announced they are working on a plan that allows you to utilize your favorite wearables in your connected car.
Connected devices are driving the Internet of Everything and there are critical efforts underway to ensure all the latest technologies work well with one another. The research being done by Ford is no exception – and a world where you are connected to your car through wearable technology would be pretty sweet.
One of these innovative ideas will utilize wearable technology that is in sync with your car to allow for a more precise reading of your biometric data. In one use case, wearable tech in your connected vehicle will send your sleep information just as you put the key into the engine. The car will then accordingly adjust its own safety features to make sure you are out of harms way. Drowsy driving is a major problem in our country and the risks are significant. The CDC reports that an estimated 1/25 adult drivers report having fallen asleep behind the wheel in the past 30 days. With wearable tech and connected cars, we can make the roads safer for everyone.
