Today, the House Energy and Commerce Committee held a markup session and passed several bills including the Federal Spectrum Incentive Act of 2013 and the FCC Process Reform Act.
The Federal Spectrum Incentive Act is a tangible step toward incentivizing government agencies to free up underutilized, federally-owned spectrum for commercial wireless use. This Act sends a clear signal that spectrum is a finite, precious resource that needs to be put to its highest and most efficient use. With consumer demand for data exploding, spectrum is clearly a valuable commodity in today’s dynamic, mobile economy and Mobile Future support efforts to free up unused or underutilized government spectrum for consumer wireless use.
