Latinos Take Center Stage with J.Lo and Mobile

One interesting announcement from last week’s CTIA show, Jennifer Lopez partnered with Verizon to introduce Viva Movil, a new mobile shopping experience for the fastest growing population in the U.S.  The Latino community accounts for 56% of the population growth in the U.S.  With over 52 million Latinos in the U.S., statistics show 1 in every 6th person in the U.S. is Latino. “Latinos love technology, we use more smartphones than the general market, we watch 20% more videos [and] we are online 23 days more than the rest of the population,” said Marcelo Claure, Chairman and CEO of Brightstar at the 2013 CTIA Conference. Latinos account for 1.2 Trillion dollars in buying power in the U.S. that is projected to grow to 1.5 Trillion by 2015. Viva Movil will be among the first mobile brands to focus on the Latino community by designing a swift mobile shopping experience to suit the mobile needs of bicultural and bilingual Latinos.
