As Futurists know, I had the opportunity to moderate the Social Media Club of DC’s recent panel focused on mobile technology. It was a full house over and we had a great panel that brought a wide spectrum of experience in wireless. Once again, those folks were: Dave Levy (Edelman), Barg Upender (Intridea), and Chris Hopkinson (DubMeNow).
We covered a lot of ground and folks seemed really excited about the innovations – occurring at multiple levels – in the industry. For instance, Dave Levy discussed some examples of domestic brands that have embraced mobile marketing and have integrated mobile into their larger marketing initiatives. As Dave mentioned, the mobile opportunity provides a unique way to touch consumers as 90% of people are within 3 feet of their mobile, 24 hours a day. Barg Upender is seeing demand pickup from clients to build mobile applications and he is really excited about the future of LBS (location based services). Chris Hopkinson has done an awesome job of making sure that DubMeNow is available on all mobile platforms. He brought an interesting perspective and provided an overview of some of the impediments that his company has experienced too.
Thanks to Jimmy for capturing the action for us (panel gets going at 5 minutes from start).. Enjoy!
