Statement: FCC’s 2016 Broadband Progress Report

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the Federal Communications Commission held its monthly open meeting at which it released the 2016 Broadband Progress Report.

The following statement should be attributed to Jonathan Spalter, chair of Mobile Future:

“The FCC’s latest broadband report fails to fully acknowledge the massive investment and lightning speed with which providers are deploying broadband nationwide. Rather than embracing the world-leading deployment of faster, more robust mobile networks, the report is in many places dismissive of the important role mobile plays in streamlining our lives.  It’s extremely disappointing that the agency tasked with leading our digital future refuses to recognize what millions of Americans see each day. Broadband is being deployed in the U.S. in record timing, millions of consumers are choosing the benefits of a mobile broadband connection.”
