STATEMENT: House AIRWAVES Act Could Advance American Leadership in Race to 5G

WASHINGTON, DC – In response to the bipartisan group of members of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, led by Communications and Technology Subcommittee Vice Chair Rep. Lance and Ranking Member Rep. Doyle, that introduced the Advancing Innovation and Reinvigorating Widespread Access to Viable Electromagnetic Spectrum (AIRWAVES), the following statement should be attributed to Margaret McCarthy, Executive Director of Mobile Future:

“The introduction of the House AIRWAVES Act is good news for American wireless consumers, innovators, and our national competitiveness. The international race to 5G is on and we need a forward-looking spectrum strategy to free up access to our airwaves, the invisible infrastructure that enables wireless connectivity. Leaders on the House Energy and Commerce Committee join bipartisan efforts in the Senate recognizing that bringing spectrum to auction is a critical for the deployment of next generation networks. We all share the goal of connecting every American and the House AIRWAVES Act is a positive step in that direction.”
