Nomination of Mike O’Rielly as FCC Commissioner

Late Thursday, President Obama nominated Mike O’Rielly to serve as FCC Commissioner. Mobile Future Chair Jonathan Spalter responded, stating:

“We applaud the appointment of Mike O’Rielly to serve as FCC Commissioner. With his long history working on communications policy issues on Capitol Hill, Mike will bring valuable insight and experience to FCC proceedings.

As mobile devices break sales records and devour data at exponential growth rates, American wireless consumers will benefit from an FCC at full-strength as critical steps are being taken to create the framework for a successful spectrum incentive auction and to make additional spectrum resources available for wireless broadband. We urge the Senate to move this nomination forward and vote to confirm FCC Chair-Nominee Tom Wheeler, as quickly as possible.”
