Crossing the New Digital Divide: Connecting to Mobile Economic Empowerment
Presented on Wednesday, April 27, 2016
Please join us for a Mobile Future Forum to release the findings of a new nationwide poll of African-Americans entitled Crossing the New Digital Divide: Connecting to Mobile Economic Empowerment. The survey, identifies a significant gap between African-Americans’ enthusiastic embrace of mobile technology as consumers and the community’s ability to recognize and capitalize on mobile technology as a vital tool for economic empowerment. Most important, the poll is among the first in the nation to focus on solutions at the intersection of diversity and technology, asking respondents what kinds of interventions can make a difference.
The forum will feature a presentation summarizing key findings from pollster Cornell Belcher, President of Brilliant Corners Research & Strategies, and conversations with Congressman Frank Pallone (D-NJ), Congressman G.K. Butterfield (D-NC) and FCC Commissioner Mignon Clyburn. The forum will conclude with a look ahead, convening a panel of professionals working on the frontlines of these issues, who will explore how all stakeholders can help ensure mobile technology is fully utilized as a tool for economic empowerment.
