MasterCard, in partnership with First Tech Federal Credit Union, announced that it is testing new technology that allows people to pay for purchases made on their smartphone with a selfie. That’s right – a selfie!
In a recent article by Business Insider, “selfie pay” allow consumers to make safer purchases and prevent card fraud by using facial recognition and fingerprint biometrics. According to MarketingSherpa, 54% millennials say that their mobile device is the most important shopping tool. Another thing we know milennials love? Selfies. Secure technologies that help protect financial information are important to consumers. If the trial goes well, we all may be able to use selfies to make purchases on our smartphones soon.
