New research from the Consumer Technology Association finds that Americans now have nearly as many smartphones as TVs. To be precise, consumers now have 2.4 smartphones per household compared to 2.8 televisions. This may not come as a surprise to most of us Hulu-obsessed, on-the-go viewers, but that number is quite astounding given the way in which smartphones have become so crucial to our everyday lives. Cisco reports that 75% of the world’s mobile data traffic will be video by 2020. That’s an 11-fold increase from 2015 to 2020.
Our love for tech doesn’t stop there! Portable wireless speakers will be in one third of households by the end of the year — an equally significant rise from last year. An increase in wireless fitness trackers and wireless headphones ownership is also expected.
Here’s to a bright and connected future with our favorite devices that get us through the day!
