Sports Fans and Mobile Video Streaming

As Forbes reports, new data by Ooyala forecasts video streaming on smartphones and tablets will account for half of all online video consumption by 2016 and that since 2011, global smartphone and tablet viewing altogether has increased 719%. The report also finds that mobile is the fastest growing segment of online video and that mobile viewers spend almost two-thirds of their time watching sports programming that is at least 10 minutes long.  As MediaPost reports, Turner Sports found that in the first two weeks of March Madness there was a 71% growth in NCAA streams on mobile and tablet devices.
