Many American cities are leading the world in the smart city movement, which focuses on using data to improve everything from transportation to street lights. Here are a few examples of what these cities are doing:

-New York City’s Hudson Yards project will digitally track air quality.

-Detroit’s Light Switch project is turning street lighting into art that can transform public space.

-Austin extensively promotes the use of Car-2-Go and other car sharing platforms, and is currently working on a similar bike share program.
