White House Spectrum Event

The White House discussed advanced new steps for making swaths of government-held spectrum available for mobile users.

Mobile Future Chairman Jonathan Spalter responded:

Today’s event is an important and timely reminder that the spectrum crunch facing America’s 330 million wireless subscribers is real and all options to make more spectrum available for mobile use must be on the table, including spectrum sharing.

While much progress is being made in advancing several spectrum sharing technologies, achieving meaningful scale will be both complicated and time-consuming. As industry and government works together toward longer-term solutions, the immediate, short-term focus must continue to be on rapidly clearing and reallocating as much government-held spectrum as possible to meet growing consumer demand.
