As USA Today reports, new data from Nielsen finds 65% of Americans currently own a smartphone, an increase from 56% at the beginning of the year. As consumers continue to watch video on smartphones and tablets at astounding rates, it’s no surprise that YouTube averages 128 million months viewers in the U.S. alone and saw a 15% increase in traffic from smartphones even as traffic from the web decreased 14%. According to Nielsen, the number one smartphone app this year is Facebook which accounts for over 103 million monthly users. The report also found tablet ownership continues to grow as 29% of households own a tablet this year, an increase from 5% just 2 years ago.
