The recently released annual survey by CTIA highlights tremendous growth in the U.S. mobile ecosystem. In 2010 mobile data traffic reached 388 billion megabytes and in 2013 it skyrocketed to 3.23 trillion megabytes, that’s a 732% increase in data traffic across our mobile networks in just three years. The survey also found that mobile data more than doubled in 2013 compared with 2012. Smartphone and tablet ownership also increased over the past 3 years, growing 124% and 86% respectively.
Among the most noteworthy findings, the report finds that carriers invested a record breaking high of $33.1 billion in capital expenditures in 2013.
