STATEMENT: By Cutting Red Tape, the FCC Can Accelerate Wireless Deployment

March 1, 2018

WASHINGTON, DC – In response to Chairman Pai releasing a draft Order on modernizing wireless infrastructure deployment rules that the FCC will vote on March 22, the following statement should be attributed to Rob McDowell, Chief Public Policy Advisor of Mobile Future:

“The 5G future is fast approaching and to meet that challenge, today Chairman Pai circulated to his FCC colleagues a plan to accelerate the deployment of next generation wireless networks. By streamlining federal historic and environmental reviews, the FCC can drive down costs and delays that would otherwise hinder the rapid roll out of the infrastructure we need to keep the United States the world leader in mobile. Reducing broadband expansion costs means more jobs and faster delivery of new services to consumers. Smart infrastructure reforms are a win for our national competitiveness and every American community.”
